Abstract

Abstract

EU law does not impose a clear obligation to assess ESG preferences in the case of insurance products without an investment component. There are doubts about the purpose of assessing a customer’s sustainability preferences if the insurer’s offer does not include protective insurance products that incorporate environmental, social and governance aspects. The aim of the EU Omnibus I package is to simplify sustainability reporting requirements and postpone the application deadlines for CSRD. Changes in EU law may indirectly affect protective insurance products incorporating ESG elements.
