Abstract

Abstract

This work investigates the interaction between ultrasonic vibrations and magnetic Barkhausen noise in a 1.4016 BA (AISI 430) ferritic stainless steel. Ultrasonic excitation was applied during the magnetization process, and the resulting voltage signal induced in the pickup coil was analyzed using time-domain observations and time–frequency analysis. The results revealed that ultrasonic vibrations significantly affect the characteristics of the measured signal during Barkhausen noise generation. Changes in the waveform and spectral distribution were observed, including an attenuation of the ultrasonic-frequency component during periods of Barkhausen noise activity. Moreover, time–frequency analysis revealed modifications of the Barkhausen noise spectrum, with a decrease in the contribution of higher-frequency components as the ultrasonic vibration amplitude increased. The influence of both ultrasonic vibration amplitude and magnetizing field intensity on the signal characteristics was demonstrated. The observed phenomena indicate a strong interaction between ultrasonic excitation and magnetic domain wall dynamics.
