This article aims to present the primary results of the project “Geography Teaching and Citizenship: Building young students’ geographic thinking”, developed collaboratively between the State University of Goiás (UEG) – Cora Coralina Campus and the Boa Esperança State School in Aparecida de Goiânia-GO, Brazil, from early 2024 to mid-2025. Based on the premise that Geography education is fundamental to the development of citizenship, the research uses the "Nós Propomos!" methodology to promote a didactic-pedagogical intervention at the school. Throughout this intervention, the study analyzes the impact of this collaborative activity on the school environment, focusing primarily on how school Geography contributes to the construction of geographical thinking among young students and how this resonates in spatial citizenship practices. It is a six-phase project, from which four have been concluded, including the creation of a work group and the implementation of the activities with the students.The text discusses these advancements and addresses the challenges encountered, such as the difficulties in establishing university-school partnerships and the complex reconciliation between the academic pace of the university and the daily routine of the school, which necessitated significant adjustments to the initial research schedule.
