Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a major public health problem due to its high prevalence and the long-term complications it may cause. Among public transportation drivers, occupational characteristics such as long working hours, prolonged sitting time, irregular schedules, and unhealthy lifestyle habits may increase the risk of developing this disease. Objective: To determine the risk level and the factors associated with the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus according to the FINDRISC scale among drivers of Route 109 in Cercado Province, Cochabamba, Bolivia. Methods: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational design was conducted in 100 drivers assessed during March 2026. Data were collected using the FINDRISC scale and anthropometric assessment. Results: Among the participants, 31.0% had a low risk of developing T2DM, 29.0% had a slightly elevated risk, 24.0% had a moderate risk, 12.0% had a high risk, and 4.0% had a very high risk. In addition, a statistically significant association was found between the risk of T2DM and age (p = 0.001), waist circumference (p = 0.005), a history of elevated blood glucose (p < 0.001), and a family history of diabetes mellitus (p = 0.001). Conclusion: In the study population, a low level of risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus predominated. The factors significantly associated with risk were age, waist circumference, a history of elevated blood glucose, and a family history of diabetes mellitus
