Abstract

This work aims to share and discuss the Amazonian imaginary, especially the Tembé narrative about the Curupira. This text comes from the meeting I had with Chief Manoel Edilson Mota Reis from the Ytwa Indigenous community, located in the Alto-Rio-Guamá Indigenous Land, 86 km from Santa Luzia do Pará, in the state of Pará. For this, the study is based on Loureiro (2007), who studies the narrative imagination of the Amazon, and Pizzaro (2012), which describes the enchanted beings of the Amazon region. The corpus for this work will be the Tembé text provided in Kahwage (2017), which consists of a series of narratives, but our focus will be only on the story of Curupira. This is one of many versions that exist in the Amazon region.
