Abstract

Abstract

The Ohm Krüger (1941) was one of the costliest propaganda movies of the Third Reich. The film was produced with the obvious purpose of spreading anti-British propagandamessages not only among the German citizens but in the satellite and neutral states as well.It was a hit in Hungary, where the premiere screening was attended by members of theHabsburg family and government. The movie was not only lauded by newspapersassociated with the pro-Nazi and far-right political movements but also by the morecentrist press of the country. The present paper explores the factors behind the success ofthe Ohm Krüger in Hungary.
