Performance-Based Seismic Design (PBSD) has become a practical framework for assessing and improving the expected earthquake performance of reinforced concrete (RC) structures by linking structural response to explicit damage states such as Immediate Occupancy, Life Safety, and Collapse Prevention.This review synthesizes the fundamentals, modelling requirements, and engineering applications of two core nonlinear procedures used in PBSD: nonlinear static pushover analysis and nonlinear time history analysis (NLTHA).Pushover analysis is discussed as an efficient tool for estimating global capacity, identifying weak stories, tracking plastic hinge development, and deriving performance points through capacity-demand concepts.Its key assumptions, predominantly first-mode response, invariant load patterns, and limited representation of cyclic degradation, are critically examined, especially for tall, irregular, and torsion-sensitive RC buildings.NLTHA is presented as the most comprehensive approach for PBSD because it captures record-to-record variability, Performance-Based Seismic Design and Analysis of RC Structures: A Comprehensive Review https://iaeme.com/Home/
