Abstract

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the key differences in innovation management in higher education between Europe and Latin America during the 2021–2025 period. A systematic literature review with a qualitative approach was conducted, following the PRISMA protocol and applying inclusion criteria based on journal quality and thematic relevance. A total of 67 articles from databases such as Scopus, Scielo, Web of Science, and SpringerLink were analyzed, focusing on innovative practices, organizational structures, and institutional barriers. Findings reveal that European universities have well-established and strategic structures for innovation management, including planning, evaluation, and sustainability mechanisms. In contrast, although Latin American universities have made significant progress, they still face limitations related to scarce resources, weak institutional policies, and organizational cultures resistant to change. The study concludes that strong administrative management of innovation is essential to enhance institutional sustainability and improve the quality of educational services. Additionally, it highlights the need to integrate transformational leadership and funding policies that strengthen the competitiveness and adaptability of universities in response to current social and technological challenges.
