Abstract
Abstract
The preservation of memorial sculptures requires systematic documentation that connects monument description, geographic location, visual evidence and historical interpretation within an accessible digital environment. This study develops a Web-Based Heritage Information System (WBHIS) for memorial sculptures in Mandya District, Karnataka, integrating Geographic Information System (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS), digital photography, QR-linked records and three-dimensional documentation.Field investigations conducted between 2022 and 2025 across the seven taluks were organized into a structured heritage database using unique GIS identification codes and field registration numbers. The system is designed to integrate monument type, chronology, dynasty, material, inscription status, condition, photographic references and geographic information.A Web GIS interface supports searchable heritage records and spatial visualization, while GIS-based analysis facilitates the examination of distribution and density patterns.QR-linked records provide a connection between physical monuments and digital documentation, and photogrammetric methods provide a framework for three-dimensional preservation of selected sculptures. The proposed system demonstrates how integrated digital documentation can strengthen heritage research, conservation planning, academic access and public interpretation at district level
