Abstract
Abstract
Since 1864, in Eastern Siberia, there was a collection and research team providing European science centers with specimens of local fauna through the Irkutsk branch of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society. Limnological studies of Lake Baikal were also undertaken, with particular focus on the Gammarus genus, which B. Dybowski documented in his monograph with professional drawings by F. Zienkowicz and S. Wroński. The geologists A. Czekanowski and J. Czerski documented their field observations on their own (including panoramic views, geological exposures, bone material, maps). Czerski’s drawings of archeological sites survive until today.
