Abstract

Abstract

This article examines the entry and adaptation of English borrowings into Uzbek in the context of globalization. It focuses on the role of information technologies, the Internet, international economic and cultural relations, mass media, and foreign-language communication in accelerating lexical borrowing. The study describes how new English-derived units may first appear as neologisms and later enter wider usage after adapting to the phonetic, orthographic, grammatical, and derivational patterns of Uzbek. Particular attention is paid to computer- and Internet-related vocabulary and to its movement from specialized terminology into general usage. The article also considers the communicative value of English borrowings in naming new objects, concepts, technologies, and social experiences. At the same time, it notes that not every newly introduced word becomes permanent: some forms may disappear if they are not accepted or widely used by speakers. The linguocultural dimension of borrowing is therefore emphasized alongside its structural adaptation. Overall, the study presents contemporary English borrowing as a dynamic process associated with global information exchange, technological change, intercultural contact, and emerging communicative needs in Uzbek society.
