Admission to an undergraduate program causes significant changes in an individual's life as a whole. These changes can directly affect mood, stress levels, sleep quality, quality of life, and mental health, thereby impairing decision-making. In this regard, the present study aimed to analyze the effects of functional training on biopsychosocial variables of college students. The study is the result of applied research with a quantitative approach. The research involved the participation of 28 students of both sexes, aged between 18 and 45 years, regularly enrolled in one of the 5 participating universities in the municipality of Altamira/Pará, and included functional training sessions 3 times a week for a period of 12 weeks, totaling 36 sessions. Before and after the intervention, evaluations of height, weight, waist, and hip circumference were conducted. Subsequently, the Pollock 7-site skinfold protocol was applied to measure body composition. The following questionnaires were administered: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Perceived Stress Scale, SF-36 Quality of Life Questionnaire, and finally, the Cardiorespiratory Fitness Test. When comparing the pre- and post-intervention results, improvements were observed in sleep quality (p < 0.022), perceived stress (p < 0.001), and quality of life in the physical (p < 0.049) and mental (p < 0.047) domains of the participants. Thus, it is concluded that functional training can provide significant benefits to its practitioners in terms of sleep quality, perceived stress levels, and quality of life.
