This paper outlines the methodology and achievements of one of the most renowned researchers in cancionero studies based on three main areas in which her contributions have been essential: the analysis, recovery and interpretation of the scarcity of the medieval female lyrical voice; the musical dimension of 15th-century songbook poetry not accompanied by strict notation; and the eclectic reflection of a model of anthologies in which textual transmission is much more complex than in other literary genres. Not only are the lines and methods of study established by Jane Whetnall analysed, but her work in this regard is also catalogued here, making this article an essential reference point for anyone wishing to delve into the study of any of these lines of work in cancionero poetry.
