Abstract
Abstract
The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and symptoms of anxiety and depression among university professors at a private institution in northern Mexico. The study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational design. The sample consisted of 70 full-time professors, of whom 32 were women (45.7%) and 38 were men (54.3%), selected through non-probability convenience sampling. The instruments used were the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Results indicated positive and statistically significant correlations between poor sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and the presence of anxiety and depression symptoms in the study population. Additionally, significant sex differences were found in depression levels, with women obtaining higher scores than men.
