In Mexico, the number of older adults seeking to reenter the labor market has steadily increased. This study examined the work trajectories of 264 older adults residing in Mexico City, gathering detailed information of their last five jobs and constructing an index to assess their working conditions. Quantile regression analysis was used to explore the relationship between work trajectory, gender, and educational level. Overall, participants exhibited unfavorable trajectories, characterized by a progressive deterioration in working conditions. Educational attainment showed a significant protective effect, particularly among women: those with secondary and higher education experienced more favorable trajectories compared to men. These findings highlight the urgent need for public policies and institutional actions to ensure fairer and safer working conditions throughout life.
