Abstract
Objective. To analyze how public policies discursively shape the relationship between youth and work in Colombia within a context of profound social and economic inequalities exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the need to rethink this relationship in Work and Organizational Psychology. Method. Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) was employed as a theoretical and methodological framework to understand, from a qualitative perspective, how public policies and employment programs construct young people as vulnerable subjects predisposed to precarious employment. Results. These policies tend to encourage the insertion of young people into informal and precarious forms of employment through programs that promote individual and socioemotional skills, reflecting broader processes of labor market flexibilization. Conclusion. There is a need to review and reform public policies in order to provide sustainable employment alternatives for young people, rather than perpetuating inequalities within labor markets.
