This study explores the enhancement of glove performance through the integration of advanced yarns, characterized by properties such as thermal comfort, moisture transmission, breathability, far-infrared reflection, and antibacterial capabilities. The research evaluates the impact of these yarns on the overall effectiveness, durability, and comfort of gloves, focusing on resistance, sensory feel, thermo-physiological comfort, moisture management, and antibacterial properties. To achieve this, different yarns—each with distinct antibacterial, comfort, and far-infrared reflecting qualities—were combined and used to create three functional glove designs. These gloves were then tested for various performance attributes, including abrasion and puncture resistance, bending rigidity, air and water vapor permeability, thermal resistance, and moisture and antibacterial effectiveness. The results were statistically analysed and compared to traditional wool gloves. The findings revealed that gloves made from specific combinations of far infrared (FIR) and comfort yarns significantly outperformed conventional wool gloves in terms of thermal comfort, moisture management, and antibacterial properties. This integration of advanced yarn technologies in glove design could significantly enhance comfort and performance, potentially setting new industry standards and providing crucial benefits in sectors such as healthcare and sports.
