Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the mechanical response of springs in a jig fixture system to variations in loading using a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) approach based on SolidWorks Simulation. The materials analysed include Alloy Steel, AISI 4340, and Copper, subjected to loads of 400 kgf, 800 kgf, and 1200 kgf. The parameters examined include von Mises stress, displacement, and strain to assess the stability and structural integrity. The results show that an increase in load causes an increase in stress and strain across all materials. AISI 4340 performed best, exhibiting the smallest deformation and a stable stress distribution, followed by Alloy Steel, which still demonstrated adequate performance. Conversely, Copper experienced the greatest deformation due to its low modulus of elasticity. Overall, AISI 4340 is recommended as the optimal material for jig and fixture applications requiring high stiffness and durability.
