Abstract A high-speed on/off valve is a kind of electrohydraulic control conversion element with a small volume, a fast response, and high reliability. A new type of high-speed on/off valve for hydraulic joints is designed. The servo motor is used to drive the spool so that it rotates continuously and to achieve the on/off control of the oil circuit. Firstly, the influence of spool speed and number of openings on switching frequency is analyzed, and the motion equation of the new rotary high-speed switching valve is established. The mathematical expression of the valve orifice flow area change is derived, and the main factors affecting the valve orifice flow area are obtained. By modeling and simulating the internal flow field of the valve core structure, the pressure and flow characteristics of the internal flow field model of the valve body are obtained, and the flow path stability of the valve is verified. Finally, the experimental test platform of the flow characteristics of the rotary high-speed on/off valve is built, and the experimental study of the rotary high-speed on/off valve is carried out under different switching frequencies and oil supply pressures. Based on the measured experimental data, the rationality of the principle and the reliability of the structure of the designed high-speed on/off valve are verified. The results indicate that the proposed valve achieves a stable flow performance and the experimental results agree well with the simulation results.
