Abstract

Abstract

This article is based on a presentation by D. G. Tainskaya delivered at the Second SITA Student Online Forum, “Emotional Literacy: A Discovery of the Modern Era and a Foundation for the Future,” held on November 22–23, 2025. The article focuses on the significance of paternal function, as well as on the role that the relationship with a father figure plays in the formation and development of private psychological practice. Private practice is considered as a specific form of professional activity that brings together clinical work, organizational demands, and entrepreneurial initiative. The stability of a practice is associated with the development of internal supports that enable autonomy, initiative, the ability to maintain boundaries, assume responsibility, and act under conditions of uncertainty. Special attention is given to the maternal meanings that private practice may acquire, as well as to symbiotic patterns, narcissistic vulnerabilities, and borderline modes of organizing experience that may complicate professional development. The article argues that an internalized paternal function is one of the significant conditions for professional stability, self-structuring, and the growth of private practice.
