Abstract

Abstract

This article analyzes the theoretical and pedagogical foundations of forming mathematical thinking in primary grades in connection with the opportunities of artificial intelligence. Mathematical thinking is the pupil’s ability to understand numbers, quantities, shapes, and relationships, comprehend the conditions of a problem, compare, generalize, determine cause-and-effect relationships, choose a solution method, and justify the result. In primary education, this skill is formed not only through performing arithmetic operations, but also through problem situations, real-life tasks, question-and-answer activities, game-based assignments, and explanatory solutions. Artificial intelligence serves as an auxiliary tool in creating individual exercises, analyzing pupils’ mistakes, developing problems of different levels, and gradually improving mathematical thinking.
