Abstract
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the level of citizen knowledge of and trust in the Judiciary following the 2024 constitutional reform, in the municipality of Tulancingo de Bravo, Hidalgo, Mexico. The research followed a quantitative approach, with a descriptive scope and a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample comprised 384 participants. Data were collected through a survey, using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale designed to measure knowledge of the reform and trust in the Judiciary. The results show that 68.75 % of participants recognize the existence of the reform, while 50.78 % report understanding the changes related to the election of judges and magistrates. Regarding trust, 77.60 % consider that the Judiciary acts transparently; however, only 16.66 % believe that the reform will improve its performance. The findings reveal greater recognition of the reform than understanding of its scope, as well as a favourable perception of transparency alongside limited expectations regarding its institutional effects. It is concluded that strengthening public information and guidance on the reform and on judicial election processes constitutes an area of opportunity for fostering a better-informed electoral participation.
