Abstract
El objetivo principal de este artículo es contrastar las descripciones fenomenológicas del encuentro con el otro tal como las presentan Jean-Paul Sartre en El ser y la nada y Emmanuel Lévinas en Totalidad e infinito. El texto se centra en el alcance de la naturaleza objetivante del encuentro y procede a mostrar que ambas descripciones fenoménicas, aunque diferentes en algunos aspectos, comparten bastantes motivos esenciales. Probablemente el más transparente de todos ellos es la "amenaza" a mi libertad, que el otro trae consigo con su surgimiento. El clímax del texto presentado es entonces una conclusión de que (respetando sus divergencias mutuas) tanto Sartre como Lévinas operan con este motivo de maneras muy similares y que para ambos, consecuentemente, sirve como una solidificación de la libertad personal.
