Introduction: currently, criminal organizations operate clandestinely along the extensive Amazonian border (approximately 6,900 km), where the limited state presence hinders the control of cross-border and environmental crimes in rural areas. Objective: this paper analyzes the geopolitical implications of the proposed law creating a Border Zone in the Peruvian Amazon. Methodology: a qualitative approach to documentary analysis is employed, based on Bill No. 01039/2021-CR (Peru) as the official document, and compared with normative and institutional documents from the legislation of the Brazilian and Uruguayan governments related to the proposal. Conclusions: by defining the Amazonian zone as a national security area, broader dynamics are activated with geopolitical effects that transcend the regional sphere. In this sense, the Peruvian Amazonian border can be understood as a hybrid regime of border governance, which contributes to the international debate on internal border zones and security policies.
