Ushbu maqolada zamonaviy tilshunoslikda konnotativ ma’no hodisasining ilmiy-nazariy jihatdan o‘rganilishi tahlil etiladi. Maqolada “konnotatsiya” terminining paydo bo‘lish tarixi, uning turli tilshunoslik maktablari va yo‘nalishlarida qanday talqin qilinishi ko‘rib chiqiladi. Bundan tashqari, konnotatsiyaning semantik, psixolingvistik va sof lingvistik yo‘nalishlarda o‘rganilishi, uning guruhlarga ajratilishi (Blumfild, Arnold, Komlev klassifikatsiyalari), shuningdek, denotatsiya va konnotatsiya o‘rtasidagi munosabat masalalari yoritiladi.
