Die Wahl des Bereitstellungsmodells für generative Künstliche Intelligenz (KI) entwickelt sich zu einer strategischen Entscheidung, auch für Hochschulverwaltungen, welche über rein technische Funktionsmerkmale hinausgeht. Dieser Beitrag untersucht daher drei Bereitstellungsmodelle: eine extern gemanagte Lösung als kommerzielles Produkt, eine Open-Source-Plattform sowie eine mögliche institutionseigene Eigenentwicklung anhand eines literaturbasierten Anforderungsrahmens. Es wird aufgezeigt, dass Compliance-Kontrolle und Compliance-Kapazität im Kontext von Hochschulverwaltungen als unabhängige Faktoren betrachtet werden müssen. Final werden durch ein institutionstypspezifisches Entscheidungsraster Implikationen für Hochschulleitungen sowie Entscheidungsträger:innen abgeleitet.
