Following the idea that “decolonization is not a metaphor” ( Tuck and Yang 2012 ), this article examines how de-(settler)colonization might look in the case of Palestine/Israel. We consider settler colonialism as an organized form of “violent dwelling”: a mechanism of monopoly on the right to build a home, personal or national, and on the very sense of feeling at home, while denying such rights to the indigenous population. In Palestine/Israel, different configurations of settler colonialism exist simultaneously, stressing a need to consider decolonizations, in the plural, that are both unsettling and settling. On the one hand, decolonization must unsettle the current regime to make necessary transformations in the structure of citizenship, legislation, spatial configurations and reorganize the very notion of land and home. On the other hand, it also needs to settle issues of reparations, restitution and recognition through procuring dignity, security and futurity to all.
