Abstract
Abstract
Abstract Retroreflectors are optical components that return incident light toward its source by directing the beam to a symmetrical position in a converging manner. This property has been widely utilized in various optical architectures, including road signaling, telecommunications, and several imaging systems. Recent advancements in fabrication techniques have enabled the production of high-quality retroreflective arrays. These improvements have enhanced optical performance and expanded the use of retroreflectors in a wider range of applications, particularly in two-dimensional/three-dimensional aerial displays and near-eye display systems. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the working principles of retroreflectors and their applications across different fields. The aim is to offer readers a systematic understanding of retroreflector-based technologies and to support further development of system designs for future optical and display applications.
