Abstract

Abstract

Guidelines and various studies on tsunami load acting on seismically isolated buildings (SIBs) have shown that tsunami forces can generally be evaluated using hydrostatic pressure equations, like resistant buildings. However, the effects of tsunami inflow into isolation interface on tsunami force and structural response have not been investigated, considering the actual conditions of isolation clearance and interface. Therefore, this study conducted hydraulic model experiments using scaled models that reproduced these features to investigate how pit inundation affects tsunami loads and response behavior of SIBs.
