Dos cuentos de Brasas de Agosto epitomizan los condicionamientos morales y sociales restrictivos de la primera posguerra y las contradicciones íntimas de esa contingencia generacional. ‘Cenizas’ refleja las coberturas de una falsa vocación y su desenmascaramiento, como parte del proceso iniciático adolescente. Su escritura, llena de reminiscencias míticas y naturalistas, conduce a Joyce. En ‘Brasas’, nos enfocamos en la historia del deseo triangular que subyace bajo la historia romántica del final de un affaire; un relato autorreflexivo (Ricardo Piglia) que habla de los efectos compensatorios que la trama de deseo produce en quien la escribe y la lee (Peter Brooks).
