Reading is a fundamental activity in the process of reader training and development of the subject’s personal identity. Based on this, the current work approaches the short story A troca e a tarefa, by Lygia Bojunga, originally published on 1987, based on the theories that go through the Textual Linguistics, aiming to analyze the compositional structure of the referred narrative. Due to the heterogeneity of the composition of the discourse genres, the theory of Adam (2009; 2011; 2019) will serve as a support for the analysis, since the linguist proposes the Textual Analysis of the Discourses, basic theory for the construction of this study. To add arguments to this theoretical basis, the contributions of Marquesi, Elias e Cabral (2017) will be used, as well as those of Custódio Filho e Cavalcante (2025), for investigating Adam’s theoretical assumptions. This descriptive research has as its main objective to analyse the narrative textual sequences of Bojunga’s short story, present in the book Tchau (2024), describing and analyzing them at a global level. As a conclusion, we find that the short story A troca e a tarefa (Bojunga, 2024) has two narrative textual sequences, one complete and the other incomplete.
