Abstract

Abstract

Cosmogenic Selection (CGS) is proposed as a conceptual framework for examining how organized reality develops across physical, biological and cognitive domains. Its central proposition is that what persists changes what can happen next: differences enter relationships, some consequences are retained, and retained organization reshapes or expands subsequent possibilities. The framework does not assume that one selection mechanism operates at every scale. Instead, it identifies potential structural recurrences, termed Echoes, while recognizing the distinct mechanisms of physical stability, biological heredity, learning and intelligent anticipation. With intelligence, retained representations and models can influence future outcomes, potentially expanding an observer’s relational bandwidth. More speculatively, CGS considers whether analogous principles might apply to universe reproduction and whether intelligence could participate in cosmogenesis. CGS is offered neither as a new physical force nor as a completed theory, but as a testable conceptual bridge whose value depends on distinguishing meaningful cross-domain relationships from superficial analogy.
