Against the backdrop of the cataclysmic events that have unfolded since 7 October 2023, this interview approaches Ilan Pappé's Israel on the Brink as a methodological, political, and ethical contribution to thinking about the future of Palestine without Zionism. It specifically probes Pappé's vision concerning the potential collapse of Zionism. Moreover, drawing on Pappé's earlier work, as well as scholarship by Nur Masalha, Edward Said, Avi Shlaim, Benny Morris, and some contemporary human-rights debates, the conversation reflects upon such concepts as the right of return for Palestinians, Jewish collectivity, the limits of the discourse of ‘coexistence’, and the future of Palestine.
