Abstract

Abstract

This aim of this paper is to collect the main new items included in the EN4179:2026, technically equivalent to NAS410 rev.6, issued on 1st Dec 2025. EN4179 and NAS410 deal with Non Destructive Testing Qualification and Certification process in the worldwide aerospace industry. The revision of the EN4179 and NAS410 is performed by the Harmonization Team which is constituted by AIA (US Aerospace Industry Association) and ASD-Stan Working Group 15 (CEN), where the European Aerospace Industry seats. This Team worked for several months across 2024 and 2025 collecting the worldwide proposals for change, analyzing comments and proposing and agreeing improvements of the code for the benefit of the next revision of those standards. While a gap analysis is common and a recognized approach towards a new published standard, this paper wants to highlight the background data which led to the main changes of those codes, supporting a more comprehensive understanding of driving factors and potential future evolution of the standards itself.
